They have similar physical characteristics (based on the shape and size) and could only be distinguished from one another based on their chemical properties; features that could vary and determine their relative uses in appliances. For instance, gadgets (such as speakers and high display cameras) with high drain features require a commensurate amount of battery power for effectiveness.<\/p><p>This article would describe the lithium coin batteries and their properties, types, differences and corresponding uses.<\/p><p>Non-rechargeable lithium ion coin cell batteries are made up of lithium manganese dioxide, a component found in about 80% of all commercially available lithium batteries. Every lithium coin battery comes with a standardized name, the widely accepted and most acceptable standard being the International Electrochemical Commission (IEC). The names are codes used to identify each product, a popular example of which is the CR 2450 battery. Other products are CR2430, CR2032, DL2450, 250EL, CR2450N, 5029LC, amongst others.<\/p><p>There is a difference between CR 2450 battery and CR2030 battery.<br \/><\/p><h2 id=\"What_is_a_CR2450_battery\">What is a CR 2450 battery<\/h2><p>A CR 2450 battery is the most common form of lithium coin batteries, produced on a large scale and constructed with lithium as its negative electrode and manganese dioxide as its positive electrode. The code name for CR 2450 battery as announced by the International Electrochemical Commission was coined from the properties of the cell. The letter C, symbolizes the battery\u2019s chemistry, Lithium manganese. The Letter R gives details of the round shape of the battery while the four reference numbers give the approximate battery size; 24mm in diameter and 5mm height in this case.<\/p><h2 id=\"What_kind_of_battery_is_CR2450\">What kind of battery is CR 2450<\/h2><p>The CR 2450 battery is a non-rechargeable lithium coin battery, whose lifespan is a function of its shelf life and in fewer cases, environmental factors like temperature that control the rate of discharge. CR 2450 batteries have the following features (some of which are general features of lithium ion coin batteries).<\/p><h4 id=\"High_voltage_and_capacity\">High voltage and capacity<\/h4><p>The CR 2450 battery, like lithium ion batteries, has a nominal voltage of 3V, compared to 1.5V generated by alkaline and silver oxide battery. Due to the small weight and power of CR 2450 batteries, the power-weight ratio is very high. The DL2450 battery product is CR 2450, but DL is a product name named by the manufacturer himself, and CR is a general IEC standard definition, both of which are 24mm in diameter and 5mm in thickness.<\/p><p>It is safe to therefore assume that DL2450 battery and CR 2450 battery are essentially the same batteries, having similar physical characteristics and chemical components but with different manufacturers.<\/p><h2 id=\"Uses_of_lithium_CR2450_batteries\">Uses of lithium CR 2450 batteries<\/h2><p>The lithium CR 2450 battery have been found to be useful in achieving various intentions. First off, their portability, a function of their light weight enables their use in wristwatches (digital and analogue), calculators, car keys and laser pens. This implies that a CR2032 battery would not fit into the battery holder of a device built to hold a CR 2450 battery because the battery holders in each device in almost all cases are built to accommodate a specific-sized battery.<\/p><p>Therefore, a CR2032 cannot be used in the place of a CR 2450 battery due to the disparity in sizes, except the device\u2019s battery holder is constructed to permit both sizes.<\/p><h2 id=\"How_long_does_a_CR2450_battery_last\">How long does a CR 2450 battery last<\/h2><p>The chemical stability of CR 2450 battery (due to the combination of lithium and manganese oxide) ensures that after 5-10 years, the batteries still possess 90% of their initial capacity. This long shelf life is also partly due to the low discharge rate across widely varying temperatures (-40\u2103~120\u2103).<\/p><p>In conclusion, lithium coin batteries have proven to be useful in
