By accelerating the global production capacity layout, it will maintain its global leading position for a long time.<\/p><h2 id=\"CATL-upstream-resource-layout\">CATL upstream resource layout<\/h2><h4 id=\"Cobalt\">Cobalt<\/h4><p>On September 30, CATL and its wholly-owned subsidiary Sichuan Times signed an investment framework agreement with Luoyang Guohong Investment. After the transaction is completed, Sichuan Times will indirectly hold 24.68% of the shares of CMOC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.takomabattery.com\/top-5-cobalt-salt-resources-companies-in-china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #333399;text-decoration: underline\">cobalt salt resources companies<\/span><\/span><\/a> and become the second largest shareholder of CMOC.<\/p><p>CMOC is the world&#8217;s second-largest cobalt producer after Glencore. In April last year, CATL reached an all-round strategic cooperation with China Molybdenum Industry on new energy metals. CATL also participated in China Molybdenum Industry&#8217;s KFM copper-cobalt mine in Congo (DRC) through its subsidiary Bangpu Times.<\/p><p>KFM copper-cobalt mine is one of the largest and highest-grade copper-cobalt mine projects to be developed in the world. According to a rough estimate of molecular weight, the above-mentioned lithium metal oxide is equivalent to about 6.6 million tons of lithium carbonate.<\/p><p>In February, Sichuan Times signed a joint venture agreement in Chengdu with Ganzi Investment Group, Yibin Sanjiang Huida Company and Sichuan Tianfu Mining Company to jointly accelerate the exploration and development of lithium ore resources in Sichuan Province.<\/p><p>In October last year, CATL cooperated with Sichuan Energy Investment, relying on Sichuan Energy Investment&#8217;s advantages in resources such as lithium ore resources and lithium salt production, to deepen the multi-level and multi-form cooperation between the two parties in the field of new energy industry.<\/p><p>Energy Investment Lithium, a subsidiary of Sichuan Energy Investment, indirectly holds the mining rights of Lijiagou spodumene mine in Jinchuan County, Sichuan Province. Lijiagou has proven ore reserves of 38.812 million tons, with an average grade of 1.3%, and lithium oxide reserves of 502,200 tons.<\/p><p>As early as 2020, CATL has already deployed lithium salt resources through acquisitions, strategic shareholding and other forms. If it acquires Canadian Millennial, the latter has about 4.12 million tons of lithium carbonate equivalent; Strategic investment in Jiangxi Zhicun Lithium Industry, Tianhua Times, etc.<\/p><p>In addition to China, CATL now holds a 7.5% stake in Australian miner Pilbara Minerals. The total investment is 700 million US dollars, and the annual production capacity is 50,000 tons\/year for nickel metal and 4,000 tons\/year for cobalt metal.<\/p><p>In April 2018, CATL took a stake in the North American Nickel Industry project through Canadian Times, with a shareholding ratio of 25.38%.<\/p><h4 id=\"Phosphorus\">Phosphorus<\/h4><p>In October 2021, CATL plans to invest in the Bongpu Integrated Battery Materials Industrial Park project in Yichang, Hubei, and Hubei Yihua will build a supporting chemical raw material project with an investment of 32 billion RMB.<\/p><p>The project takes the cathode material of new energy vehicle power battery as the core, covers the whole life cycle of the battery, and builds a production base that integrates multi-link businesses such as &#8220;phosphate rock-raw material-precursor-cathode material-battery recycling&#8221;.<\/p><p>Hubei Yihua, the partner of CATL, owns the mining rights of phosphate rock with an annual output of 1.3 million tons in Yichang, Hubei and Sichuan. With the help of the integrated battery material industrial park project, CATL has reached a cooperation with Hubei Yihua, and successfully acquired the latter&#8217;s local phosphate mine in Yichang to increase the supply of raw materials for lithium iron phosphate.<\/p><p>In December 2021, Guizhou Times Mining Co., Ltd. and Guizhou Phosphate New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. were established, and CATL (Guizhou) New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. held shares in the two companies.
