They usually have a much higher capacity compared to coin cell batteries and can be used with larger devices such as larger toys, small power tools and minor industrial appliances.

CR123A: The CR123A is a common 3v battery with a dimension of 17 millimeters in diameter and 33.4 millimeters in height. These batteries are quite shorter than the average AA battery but offer twice the voltage at 3 volts as opposed to rechargeable aa batteries with 1.5V ratings. These batteries offer a large power-to-size ratio makes them ideal for use with devices such as LED flashlights, small power tools, and many more.

CR2032: This coin-size 3v battery offers an equally large weight-to-power ratio with dimensions of 20 millimeters in diameter and 3.2 millimeters in height and weighing less than 3 grams. The flat disk shape of these lithium batteries makes them suitable for use with small devices like wristwatches, toys, calculators, digital compasses, and other small devices.

CR2025: 3v lithium batteries also fall within this category but with a slight difference in size with a dimension of 20 millimeters in diameter and a smaller 2.5 millimeters in height compared to CR2032.

CR2477: This 3v battery is also categorized as a coin battery but with a slightly larger capacity and size than CR3032 and CR2025 batteries. These batteries have a diameter of 24 millimeters and a height of 7.7 millimeters which gives them added capacity levels reach as high as 1000mAh per battery. They are used in Cameras, medical equipment, multi-function digital watches, and much more.

How long will a 3v lithium battery last

Regardless of their relatively small size, 3v lithium batteries possess the same qualities and advantages as any other lithium battery which includes a long life span. A good quality lithium 3v battery should have a life expectancy of up to 10 years under normal usage conditions.

A simple test can be carried out using a Multimeter or Voltmeter to test the battery’s voltage levels. If the device indicates a reading of less than 2.7 volts, then that means the 3v battery is bad but a reading above 2.8 volts is acceptable as a good battery.

How do you keep lithium batteries healthy

The best practices for keeping a battery such as a 3v lithium battery healthy includes:
Avoid charging the battery to 100% and discharging completely to 0%.
Do not allow the battery to overcharge when it is at 100%.
When the battery isn’t in use, remove it from the device and store separately.
Avoid using the battery at very high and very low temperatures.
