Max Version: Priced at 299,900 RMB, with an 871V high-voltage silicon carbide platform, enabling a 510 km recharge in 15 minutes, equipped with a 101 kWh CATL Kirin battery. Its 800V ultra-fast charging high voltage battery can achieve a 220 km range in 5 minutes, with a CLTC range of up to 800 km.
Innovative battery structure design of Xiaomi Auto
1.CTB cell inversion technology
Xiaomi introduces the industry’s first CTB cell inversion technology. In the CTB scheme, the cells and pressure relief valves are inverted. This innovative structure ensures that even in the event of thermal runaway, energy is directed downward, combined with a non-porous battery cover design and six-layer redundant smoke evacuation channels, maximizing the safety of the passenger cabin.
2.Active cooling technology to prevent thermal failure
Xiaomi’s CTB battery adopts industry-leading 17-layer high-voltage insulation protection and customizes the industry’s strongest active cooling technology: dual large cooling surfaces covering up to 7.8 m², which is four times the industry average. Additionally, 165 pieces of advanced aerogel insulation material, used in space suits and resistant to temperatures up to 1000°C, are laid on both sides of the cells. With comprehensive thermal and electrical safety protection, Xiaomi achieves the highest battery safety standards, ensuring no thermal propagation or open flames even at full charge under 55°C (The highest is at 50°C in the industry).
3.Comprehensive 14-layer physical safety protection
Battery structure safety, particularly in side collisions and underbody scraping, is crucial. Xiaomi’s CTB integrated battery technology features three layers of top support, three layers of side collision protection, and eight layers of bottom protection, totaling 14 layers of robust physical protection. After the most rigorous combined tests, including double-load vibration, 3.6 times impact, and 48 times water immersion, it still passes the IP6K9K sealing test.
Xiaomi’s CTB battery includes an eight-layer underbody protection structure:
1. Composite fiber spine structure: ultra-strong bottom support, tensile strength ≥ 1000 MPa
2. Double buffer space: dual-layer protective space with a 15 mm buffer layer.
3. High rebound foam: high compression energy absorption, professional-grade energy-absorbing material.
4. High-temperature-resistant gold mica board: high-temperature isolation, gold mica board resistant to 1050℃.
5. Flexible polymer board: ultra-strong impact resistance layer, preventing sharp objects from piercing the steel protection plate.
6. High-strength steel bottom guard: provides bottom protection for the entire box.
7. Anti-stone strike PVC coating: prevents stone impact and avoids damage to electrophoretic paint on sheet metal.
8. High-strength steel crash beam: the first layer of underbody protection.
4.Advanced BMS safety protection system
Beyond physical protection, Xiaomi has established a cloud-based big data platform for power battery safety. It collects battery data during driving, charging, and resting, uploading it to the cloud through Xiaomi’s dedicated network. Based on the data feedback, it performs safety analysis and early warnings, acting as a “battery cloud safety guardian.” It provides full lifecycle monitoring (voltage/current/temperature/internal resistance), extending battery life and ensuring lithium-ion battery safety.
The battery pack includes pressure sensors for real-time monitoring of internal pressure of electric car battery, alerting the BMS and the entire vehicle in case of abnormal pressure and sending warnings to the cloud. Sampling chips monitor battery temperature and voltage in real time, with alerts for over-temperature, over-voltage, and under-voltage conditions, and wake up the BMS and the vehicle to send warnings to the cloud. Even in vehicle sleep mode, the BMS actively wakes up periodically (intervals ≤ 60 min) for silent battery pack safety monitoring.
Conclusion
Xiaomi Auto’s battery technology is highly regarded for its efficient integration and reliable safety features. Through a series of innovative designs and strict quality controls, Xiaomi Auto has significantly improved battery integration efficiency and safety, injecting new vitality into the development of electric vehicles. We look forward to seeing further breakthroughs and achievements from Xiaomi Auto in the electric vehicle industry.
