BYD establishes two more battery companies
ASEAN Fudi’s main business includes battery manufacturing, battery sales, battery parts production, battery parts sales, electronic special material manufacturing, electronic special material research and development,sales of electronic special materials, energy storage technology services, recycling and cascade utilization of waste power batteries for new energy vehicles, etc.
ASEAN Fudi is 100% controlled by FinDreams Battery as top 10 battery management system suppliers in china and Fudi Battery Co., Ltd. (“FinDreams Battery”), which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BYD in top 10 power battery companies in the world. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of BYD, FinDreams Battery has a strong presence in the power battery industry.
At the end of June, FinDreams Battery invested more than 3 billion RMB to expand a battery factory with an annual output of 15Gwh power batteries in Shawen Ecological Science and Technology Park, High-tech Zone, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. At present, FinDreams Battery’s factory in Guiyang can achieve an annual production capacity of 30Gwh of power batteries. Also in June, FinDreams Battery officially opened a production line in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province with an investment of about RMB 13 billion, dedicated to the production of BYD DM-i special blade batteries, with an annual production capacity of 15Gwh.
Also on July 5, Nanning BYD New Materials Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Nanning BYD”) was officially established. The company’s registered capital is 50 million RMB.
Nanning BYD’s main business includes new material technology promotion services, engineering and technology research and experimental development, non-metallic mineral product manufacturing, non-metallic mineral product sales, mineral processing, common non-ferrous metal smelting, basic chemical raw material manufacturing, chemical product sales, etc. .
Nanning BYD is 100% controlled by BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BYD (96.7866% of the shares are held, and the other 3.2134% is held by BYD (H.K.) CO., LIMITED, a Hong Kong-based company).
So far, BYD has established two new companies in one day, which shows its expansion speed.
BYD continues to set up new battery companies
Since the introduction of the blade battery, the business development of BYD’s power battery has accelerated significantly:
On December 30, 2020, Bengbu Fudi Battery Co., Ltd. was incorporated;
In 2021, BYD established 7 Fudi battery companies, namely Chongqing Fudi Battery Research Institute Co., Ltd., Wuwei Fudi Battery Co., Ltd., Yancheng Fudi Battery Co., Ltd., Jinan Fudi Battery Co., Ltd., Shaoxing Fudi Battery Co., Ltd., Chuzhou Fudi Battery Co., Ltd., Fuzhou Fudi Battery Co., Ltd.;
Since 2022, solid state battery companies BYD has established 6 Fudi battery companies, namely FAW Fudi New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Xiangyang Fudi Battery Co., Ltd., Taizhou Fudi Battery Co., Ltd., Nanning Yongzhou Fudi Battery Co., Ltd., Guangxi Fudi Battery Co., Ltd. Among them, FAW Fudi is a joint venture between BYD and China FAW.
When will FinDreams battery go on sale
Previously, the chairman of BYD had proposed that BYD plans to split its battery business into an independent listing by the end of 2022 to raise funds for development.
At present, half of the time in 2022, it seems that the independent listing of BYD’s power battery business has entered the countdown.
However, industry insiders believe that it is too early for BYD’s power battery business to be split and listed independently, or it will take three years later. “At present, BYD’s power batteries are still mainly for internal supply, and the proportion of external supply business is still far from the target of independent listing of enterprises.”
According to the total installed capacity of vehicle power batteries and energy storage batteries officially announced by BYD on July 4, 2022, the total installed capacity of BYD from January to June 2022 is about 34.042GWh. In the same period in 2021, BYD’s total installed capacity is only about 12.707GWh.
That is to say, when the self-use batteries have increased by 167.90% year-on-year, if BYD’s batteries want to be supplied externally, they have to greatly increase the effective production capacity.
It is understood that in addition to China FAW, BYD power batteries are also supplied to Changan Automobile and Zhongtong Bus. Not only that, it is reported that Tesla, Volkswagen, Daimler, Toyota, Hyundai and many other car companies are also in contact with BYD, but it has not been officially confirmed.
Confirmed to be a Ford car.
Regarding the listing of FinDreams, BYD’s statement is: “At present, the company’s splitting and listing of its power battery business segment is in normal progress, and no information update will be carried out for the time being.”
BYD battery capacity list
According to incomplete statistics, there are 15 BYD battery production bases with announced production capacity, namely Xining in Qinghai (24GWh), Huizhou (2GWh), Pingshan in Shenzhen (14GWh), Bishan in Chongqing (35GWh), Xi’an (30GWh), and Ningchang in Changsha. Township (20GWh), Guiyang, Guizhou (20GWh), Bengbu, Anhui (20GWh), Changchun, Jilin (45GWh), Wuwei, Anhui (20GWh), Jinan, Shandong (30GWh), Chuzhou, Anhui (5GWh), Sheyang, Yancheng (30GWh), Xiangyang, Hubei (30GWh), Jiangxi Fuzhou (15GWh), Guangxi Nanning (45GWh).
In addition, BYD has also jointly built a 10GWh power battery capacity with Changan and a 45GWh power battery capacity with FAW.
Of course, many of BYD’s new battery production bases also have unannounced production capacity.
