Tycorun lifepo4 12v 100ah lithium battery out-of-box test

In this video we’re going to be looking at this smart 12 volt 100 amp hour Lithium Iron Phosphate battery from Tycorun. So straightaway you can see the unique gold color of this 12v 100ah lithium ion battery.

I have not seen any other battery on the market in a gold color. This is definitely going to brighten up your battery compartment and right away on the outside of the battery you have all the information you need. So we have a nominal voltage of 12.8 nominal capacity 100 amp hours or watt hour rating, our charge voltage of 14.4 charge current 70 amps, standard Max current 20 amps and continuous peak discharge is 100 amp hours or 300 amp hours for three seconds our charging temperature zero degrees to plus 45 Maximum short circuit current of 800 amps and over here we have some of our warnings. One of the things I really like about this 12 volt lithium battery is it has store at 50% capacity. Not a lot of people talk about this and you have your manufacturing date of 2021 in December and looking at the top of the butter we have a nylon strap. We have our epoxy terminals, and we have our standard and eight bolts.

This bolt has a washer, a split washer, and it is an M eight and plenty of room here on the terminal to put your battery locks on. Now to charge my battery. I’m going to be using this lithium charger from progressive dynamic.

now you can see we’re charging with 44.1 amps. And as you can see we have really nice big terminals to make full contact for the look. Okay, I have my test setup. I have my torch tester setup through 200 amp shunt I have my voltage sensing cables hooked directly to the battery. And I have my laptop set up to show my graphs and to show my voltage current wattage, capacity and amp hours and capacity and kilowatt hours and now I’m going to run a 0.2 C discharge. So I shouldn’t be discharging out about 20 amps for true test.

So now I’m discharging at right around 20 amps, which is going to be a great test for a 0.2 C discharge rate. Now this test is going to take about five hours. So I’ll be back at that point to show you the results all right. Test Complete. Wow, we have some pretty impressive results here. So we have 105.7 amp hours and 1.37 kilowatt hours. We tested above what the rating is on the battery. Now before I take the battery apart just in case I accidentally break something. Just wanted to show you what the app looks like. So it’s pretty bare bones app you get a state of charge meter a percentage.

You get your voltage, your current going in currently I’m just charging with 10 amps just in order to bring it up to show you the app capacity rating. Now cycle time. It has to now because I charged and discharged it for that test and it came to me shipped with one cycle already gone through I believe that’s test the battery to make sure it’s working properly. As you can see the charging MOSFETs are on and the discharge MOSFETs are on. Now at the end of my test the discharge MOSFET setting turned off and then when I bring it up to fully charge the charging MOSFETs will turn off temperature sensor 130 degrees and temperature sensor 230 degree this battery you can series connect these batteries up to 448 volt or two for 24.

Now if I was to series connect these batteries, I wouldn’t buy the smart BMS battery. I would just buy the regular one and then added my own shunt for monitoring. And you can also put them in parallel up to four batteries for 400 amp hours. Now to get the app all you have to do is scan the QR code that’s on the battery and download the app and then you just connect and it’s quite simple. Now the take this Battery Park I have seen online party nights work pretty good.

So I’m going to try the less intrusive way to open it up to show you what’s inside. Easy so right away I can see we’ve got the Bluetooth sensor here on the top. I’m gonna see if I can slide this battery out there’s people waiting Okay, so now we have the battery removed. Just have some fiberboard on the outside with some tape now what we have here is it looks like we have four cells and then another four cells here. So this is going to be a two p four s pack. Now if we can gently peel this off.

Yeah, we have the terminals have been all laser welded together. And you can see here we have a balanced lead, which is nice with a screw and a split washer and then a little bit of glue to have a nice shrink wrap. So you could see these are all in parallel and then this is the negative and this is positive going to be the main positive and this is going to be the main negative temperature sensor. I think I see a temperature sensor.

Cold temperature disconnect test

Let’s see if that temperature sensor has cold temperature disconnect if that has cold temperature disconnect I don’t think they have it on their website. So on the website it shows that this battery has overcharge over discharge over current over voltage over temperature and short circuit strong protection giving you more safety. They don’t state on here for their battery. If it has cold temperature disconnect while charging. So I’m gonna test that right now. Now I just have a medical grade gel pack but the temperature sensor on there oh you can see temperature sensor number two is dropping.

Now we’ll see if this disconnects once it gets to below freezing. No and we are still charging let’s try the other temperature sensor. Oh and there we go just disconnected. Okay, so temperature sensor number one seems to be the cold temperature disconnect. You guys really need to update your website like that’s a major selling feature that you guys can be advertising. So let’s see what happens if we warm it back up again. Oh, there you go. Charging is back on again. Tycorun, you guys need to update your advertising to stay that has cold temperature disconnect. That’s a pretty key feature for a lot of people.

Conclusion

This is the Tycorun battery. This is their lifepo4 12v 100ah lithium battery. On their website they I believe they have a 200 amp power 12 volt you can also buy for these batteries, put them in series for 48 volt or buy two for 24 volt they also come with a 10 year warranty. And this company does not look like the other companies out there on Amazon some of the cheaper batteries where they say there’s a warranty but they’re going to disappear in a year or two. This company looks pretty legit. They’ve have some very innovating. Batteries coming up. I kind of like their powerwall 51.2V 200Ah lithium ion battery and looks like they have some stackable batteries too for home system. So all in all, great looking battery and looks like a good company. So yeah, that’s the Tycorun battery.
